Fuel prices push inflation to 4.3% in August
Spain's CPI rose to 4.3% in August, up 0.7 points from July and the highest since early 2023. Underlying inflation moderated to 2.9%. Fuel price increases, linked to the Iran conflict and holiday travel, drove the rise, while food prices fell less than they did a year ago. The prolonged conflict has also pushed Euribor to its highest level since September 2024, worsening the September cost squeeze.

The association argues that former employees who become self-employed after retiring have easier access.
