Pensions to rise 3,6% in January, third-largest since 2010
Pensions will be revalued by 3,6% in January, the third-largest increase since 2010. Rising fuel, gas and electricity prices are pushing inflation back up after Spain had moved closer to the 2% target recommended by central banks. The revaluation forces Social Security to make a record payout.
Small print of gas tariff cut: "Doesn't really reduce cost"
The regulated gas tariff (TUR) rose by an average of 17,6% from October 1, and part of that increase is deferred, not cancelled. RDL 25/2026 caps the raw material cost increase at 35%, giving 3,5 cents per kWh, and from January 1, 2027, the cap on increases cannot exceed 15%. OCU warns that the measure is a deferral and that the cost will be recovered in future tariff revisions.

José Andrés and Jeff Bezos join Spain's housing debate
Chef José Andrés said Spain's problem is a lack of housing, not a lack of decrees, calling the government's proposals "propaganda campaigns" and "patches". He argued that subsidizing demand without increasing supply pressures prices. Jeff Bezos agreed with the diagnosis "100%" after the legislative failure of two emergency housing decrees.
CEOE calls housing general strike "illegal"

He spoke at the Foro La Toja Vínculo Atlántico in O Grove, Pontevedra.
